What To Do After You Have Failed Morally

Failing is not a nice feeling for anyone to experience, especially when u fail morally and when it is that you do sincerely love the Lord. You feel genuinely sad and disappointed in yourself. But what you do after that is really up to you. You can either choose to seek for forgiveness, forgive your own self and move on, depending on God to help you or you wallow in the pit of self pity and resign yourself to the fact that probably nothing good can come from you. The end result of the latter is that the problem takes hold of a person and leads one down a road of morale decadence. I strongly believe that we can go right back to the point of loving ourselves and God like that failure never even happened. God says that when he forgives our sins, he remembers it no more, and we should do same. We ought not to let the guilt remain with us, neither should we allow the taste of the pleasure of what we fell right back into remain with us. With God nothing is impossible and also nothing is imp...

Dealing with negative habits and addictions

Almost everyone has had to fight to overcome one addiction or the other in his or her life time and you just may be in that position right now. Addictions of any kind are not good especially addictions to negative or harmful habits. So what are negative habits and why should we overcome them? The dictionary tells us that a bad habit is a negative behavior pattern. Picking the nose and biting of nails are examples of negative habits. Addiction on the other hand is the fact or condition of being addicted to a particular substance, thing, or activity. Doing drugs and pornography are example of addictions or activities that a person can be addicted to. However, both can be fought and successfully overcome. When people are addicted they do not have control over what they are doing, taking or using. This addiction may get to the point where it becomes harmful to them. I for one do not believe that any person really likes to live his or her life controlled by things he or she has no power ...

Keep Moving

No matter what you are faced with, no matter the challenges, by all means let nothing deter you. Just keep moving.  Keep working at achieving your dreams and aspirations. Attempt to make some form of progress towards your goal everyday. Yes, every day. Like Mark Twain said, continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection. The key is not to remain in one spot but to consistently and continuously pursue your goals, no matter how slow your progress may seem to be. Most of us could do with more doses of persistence which has been defined as "firm or obstinate continuance in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition". I have observed that most of us are too quick at 'throwing in the towel'. We give up too easily when faced with difficulties or challenges. However, men and women who have succeeded in their chosen endeavors and even in their personal lives will tell us that there is no situation that will not change for the better if sufficient pressur...

Rise above Anxiety

Why on earth do I find it so difficult most times not to be anxious, especially over things I have no control over? Why is the temptation to become anxious so difficult to avoid? Of course, I know what I suffer when I allow myself become anxious but why don't I seem to be able to help myself and avoid the trap? Even though I have read and know that worry and anxiety is a sign of doubt and lack of faith in God, why do I still worry and become anxious? I guess I need to trust God more and depend on His faithfulness, because He says He will never leave me nor forsake me. Help me Lord to always remember that. This is to encourage anyone else who is out there struggling with the habit of worry and anxiety (yes, habits), remember that you can't help yourself and that you have someone who cares for you more than you can ever imagine. His thoughts towards you continually are thoughts of good and not of evil, to give you an expected then. So lets learn to wholly depend on Him.

Actualizing Your Dreams

We all have dreams. Dreams of achieving greatness in at least one area of human endeavour. Many of us dream of becoming world-class singers, successful preachers, renowned motivational speakers, great and influential politicians, advocates of social change and philanthropists to name a few, but unfortunately however, most of us are not able to turn our dreams to reality. In fact, more than ninety percent of the total human population die without eventually actualizing their dreams and visions. A major cause of our inability to actualize our dreams is fear. For instance you are asked to teach a youth class and quickly you respond negatively. You end up asking them to look for someone else because you are much too shy. And you fail to realize that until you take the bull by the horns and begin to challenge your inner fears and feelings of inadequacy, you cannot be of much use to yourself or anyone else for that matter. Ironically, we recount stories of men like Abraham Lincoln. Men who f...

Do Unto Others

Recently, I was reminded of the Golden Rule, 'Do unto others what you will have them do unto you'. Just pause for a while and imagine what the world would be like if we all obeyed that rule. I think the world would be a much safer and happier place to be in if we all thought about what the consequences of our actions would be on others before actually carrying them out. Certainly our homes and by default the society would be a much better place, because the home is the bedrock of the society. Many of the crimes we hear about today will not be there, armed robberies, assasination, emptying of government coffers, rape, internet fraud, murder, you name it. Most of us are busy thinking about how to gratify our immediate and usually selfish desires. But, it ought not to be like that because what goes around, comes around and many of us forget that. Lets determine today, at least you, reading this post and myself the writer to be careful what we do to others. You may think our effort...
